Az 1886-ban felszentelt nagytemplom<\/a>\u00a0persze k\u00e9s\u0151bb is \u00e1tesett n\u00e9mi \u00e1talak\u00edt\u00e1son. 1899 v\u00e9g\u00e9n ide is bevezett\u00e9k a villanyvil\u00e1g\u00edt\u00e1st, 1931-ben megnagyobb\u00edtott\u00e1k a sekresty\u00e9t. A harmincas \u00e9vek k\u00f6zep\u00e9n k\u00edv\u00fclr\u0151l jav\u00edtott\u00e1k a templomot, s 1937-ben Leszkovszky Gy\u00f6rgy (1891\u20131968) fest\u0151m\u0171v\u00e9sz elk\u00e9sz\u00edtette a templom felaj\u00e1nl\u00e1s\u00e1t \u00e1br\u00e1zol\u00f3 fresk\u00f3t. A homlokzaton, a kapu felett elhelyezett k\u00e9pen Krisztus \u00e9s a magyarok Nagyasszonya l\u00e1that\u00f3, valamint a nekik h\u00f3dol\u00f3 pl\u00e9b\u00e1nos, a polg\u00e1rmester \u00e9s a lakoss\u00e1g k\u00e9pvisel\u0151i. 1915. janu\u00e1r 1-j\u00e9n a f\u0151t\u00e9ren, a nagytemplom el\u0151tt \u00fcnnep\u00e9lyesen fel\u00e1ll\u00edtottak egy zs\u00e1km\u00e1nyolt orosz \u00e1gy\u00fat \u00e9s egy g\u00e9pfegyvert. Az els\u0151 vil\u00e1gh\u00e1bor\u00fa idej\u00e9n \u00e1gy\u00fa\u00f6nt\u00e9s c\u00e9lj\u00e1b\u00f3l elvitt harangokat 1924-ben p\u00f3tolt\u00e1k.<\/p>\n

1958-ban a F\u0151v\u00e1rosi Hangszerk\u00e9sz\u00edt\u0151 V\u00e1llalat Orgona\u00fczeme \u00e9p\u00edtette meg az \u00faj orgon\u00e1t. 1969-ben is fel\u00faj\u00edtott\u00e1k a nagytemplomot, s az \u00e1ldoztat\u00f3r\u00e1cs lebont\u00e1s\u00e1val 1977-ben \u00faj liturgikus teret hoztak l\u00e9tre. 1977 augusztus\u00e1ban K\u00e1d\u00e1r L\u00e1szl\u00f3 G\u00e1bor (1927\u20131986) veszpr\u00e9mi p\u00fcsp\u00f6k szentelte fel az ism\u00e9t fel\u00faj\u00edtott pl\u00e9b\u00e1niatemplomot.<\/p>\n

A legnagyobb v\u00e1ltoz\u00e1st azonban az jelentette, hogy 1993-ban Kaposv\u00e1r p\u00fcsp\u00f6ki sz\u00e9khely<\/a>\u00a0lett, s \u00edgy a templom is sz\u00e9kesegyh\u00e1zi rangot kapott. Az ezredfordul\u00f3n fel\u00e9p\u00fclt a keresztel\u0151k\u00e1polna, s 2001. december 9-\u00e9n a sz\u00e9kesegyh\u00e1z mellett \u00e1ll\u00edtott\u00e1k fel az orsz\u00e1g egyetlen zen\u00e9s betlehem\u00e9t. (A f\u00e1b\u00f3l k\u00e9sz\u00fclt szobrokat Horv\u00e1th-B\u00e9res J\u00e1nos k\u00e9sz\u00edtette.)<\/p>\n

A f\u0151t\u00e9ri templomban a h\u00e1rom \u00e9vsz\u00e1zad sor\u00e1n t\u00falnyom\u00f3r\u00e9szt r\u00e1termett, j\u00f3 papok szolg\u00e1ltak. Ilyen volt p\u00e9ld\u00e1ul Hossz\u00fa M\u00e1rton<\/a>\u00a0vagy Ujv\u00e1ry Ferenc<\/a>\u00a0a 19. sz\u00e1zadban, Hoss J\u00f3zsef<\/a>, Kis Jen\u0151 Gy\u00f6rgy, Babics Endre vagy Longauer J\u00e1nos Imre a 20.-ban. A templom\u00e9p\u00edt\u0151 papok eml\u00e9kt\u00e1bl\u00e1j\u00e1t 2003 m\u00e1jus\u00e1ban avatt\u00e1k fel a sz\u00e9kesegyh\u00e1z nyugati fal\u00e1n\u00e1l.<\/p>\n
