A fiatalembert azonban a nagy h\u00e1bor\u00fa ut\u00e1n a k\u00f6rm\u00f6cb\u00e1nyai magyar gimn\u00e1zium eg\u00e9sz tantest\u00fclet\u00e9vel egy\u00fctt kiutas\u00edtott\u00e1k Csehszlov\u00e1ki\u00e1b\u00f3l.<\/p>\n<p class=\"kv-page-content-paragraph\">1919 elej\u00e9n a <a href=\"\/varostortenet\/b-211\">kaposv\u00e1ri f\u0151gimn\u00e1ziumba<\/a>\u00a0ker\u00fclt, b\u00e1r a Tan\u00e1csk\u00f6zt\u00e1rsas\u00e1g idej\u00e9n j\u00e1tszott szerepe miatt ezt a v\u00e1rost is el kellett hagynia a komm\u00fcn buk\u00e1sa ut\u00e1n. 1922-t\u0151l m\u00e1r ism\u00e9t Kaposv\u00e1ron, a fels\u0151 kereskedelmi iskol\u00e1ban oktatott \u2013 ez\u00fattal csaknem k\u00e9t \u00e9vtizeden \u00e1t. A j\u00f3 l\u00e9gk\u00f6r\u0171 tantest\u00fcletben hamarosan kibontakoztak igazi k\u00e9pess\u00e9gei. Elismert tan\u00e1r lett, akinek nemcsak szellemes tan\u00f3r\u00e1i v\u00e1ltak eml\u00e9kezetess\u00e9, hanem a k\u00fclf\u00f6ldi utak is, amelyeket nyarank\u00e9nt szervezett tan\u00edtv\u00e1nyainak. A harmincas \u00e9vekt\u0151l egyre t\u00f6bbet foglalkozott <a href=\"\/varostortenet\/b-096\">Berzsenyi D\u00e1niel<\/a>\u00a0k\u00f6lt\u00e9szet\u00e9vel, tudom\u00e1nyos eredm\u00e9nyei sz\u00e1mos m\u0171ben \u00f6lt\u00f6ttek testet. Komoly k\u00f6zm\u0171vel\u0151d\u00e9si munk\u00e1t is v\u00e9gzett; egyebek k\u00f6zt szerepet v\u00e1llalt a <a href=\"\/varostortenet\/b-101\">Berzsenyi T\u00e1rsas\u00e1g<\/a>\u00a0ir\u00e1ny\u00edt\u00e1s\u00e1ban, t\u00f6bbsz\u00f6r tartott \u2013 m\u00e9g a r\u00e1di\u00f3ban is \u2013 irodalmi t\u00e1rgy\u00fa el\u0151ad\u00e1st. 1928-ban b\u00f6lcs\u00e9szdoktorr\u00e1 avatt\u00e1k a p\u00e9csi egyetemen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"kv-page-content-paragraph\">1941 \u0151sz\u00e9t\u0151l a ny\u00edregyh\u00e1zi kereskedelmi iskol\u00e1ban folytatta tan\u00e1ri p\u00e1ly\u00e1j\u00e1t, amelynek 1946-ban az igazgat\u00f3ja lett. Pedag\u00f3giai, k\u00f6zm\u0171vel\u0151d\u00e9si \u00e9s tudom\u00e1nyos munk\u00e1ss\u00e1g\u00e1val Szabolcsban is elismer\u00e9st v\u00edvott ki mag\u00e1nak. A kommunista diktat\u00far\u00e1t azonban dr. Mer\u00e9nyi Oszk\u00e1r is megszenvedte: b\u00e1r megmaradhatott az \u00e1ll\u00e1s\u00e1ban, 1948 \u00e9s 1955 k\u00f6z\u00f6tt nem publik\u00e1lhatott.<\/p>\n<p class=\"kv-page-content-paragraph\">1960-ban az irodalomtudom\u00e1ny kandid\u00e1tusa lett, s hat \u00e9v m\u00falva kiadt\u00e1k nagyszab\u00e1s\u00fa Berzsenyi-monogr\u00e1fi\u00e1j\u00e1t.
