R\u00e1ad\u00e1sul a tisztelet nyilv\u00e1nos kifejez\u00e9s\u00e9re 1867 ut\u00e1n, az alkotm\u00e1nyos viszonyok k\u00f6z\u00f6tt egyre t\u00f6bb lehet\u0151s\u00e9g k\u00edn\u00e1lkozott \u2013 egyebek k\u00f6zt <a href=\"\/varostortenet\/b-066\">m\u00e1rcius 15-\u00e9n<\/a>\u00a0vagy <a href=\"\/varostortenet\/b-071\">Kossuth sz\u00fclet\u00e9snapj\u00e1nak \u00e9s n\u00e9vnapj\u00e1nak meg\u00fcnnepl\u00e9sekor<\/a>. Gruber t\u00e9vedett a sorrend k\u00e9rd\u00e9s\u00e9ben, mert <a href=\"\/varostortenet\/b-132\">Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n gr\u00f3f<\/a>\u00a0volt Kaposv\u00e1r els\u0151 d\u00edszpolg\u00e1ra (m\u00e9g 1835-ben lett azz\u00e1), a k\u00e9pvisel\u0151k mindazon\u00e1ltal \u00e1ltal\u00e1nos helyesl\u00e9ssel fogadt\u00e1k a javaslatot, s \u201eannak \u00e9rdemleges t\u00e1rgyal\u00e1sa c\u00e9lj\u00e1b\u00f3l\u201d rendk\u00edv\u00fcli k\u00f6zgy\u0171l\u00e9st h\u00edvtak \u00f6ssze augusztus 4-\u00e9re, d\u00e9lel\u0151tt 11 \u00f3r\u00e1ra. Ezen a napon azt\u00e1n <em>\u201eGruber J\u00e1nos lelkes szavakban adv\u00e1n el\u0151 ind\u00edtv\u00e1ny\u00e1t, melyben Kossuth Lajos, haz\u00e1nk nagy fi\u00e1t, kinek neve \u00f6ssze van forrva haz\u00e1nk t\u00f6rt\u00e9net\u00e9vel, s ki \u0151si alkotm\u00e1nyunkat demokratikus alapra fektette, a v\u00e1ros d\u00edszpolg\u00e1r\u00e1v\u00e1 v\u00e1lasztani k\u00e9ri. Ezen ind\u00edtv\u00e1nyt a k\u00f6zgy\u0171l\u00e9s egyhang\u00fa lelkesed\u00e9ssel elfogadv\u00e1n, Kossuth Lajost Kaposv\u00e1r v\u00e1ros d\u00edszpolg\u00e1r\u00e1v\u00e1 v\u00e1lasztotta, s a d\u00edszpolg\u00e1rs\u00e1gr\u00f3l sz\u00f3l\u00f3 d\u00edszoklev\u00e9l ki\u00e1ll\u00edt\u00e1s\u00e1ra \u00e9s Turinba elk\u00fcld\u00e9s\u00e9re <a href=\"\/varostortenet\/b-067\">N\u00e9meth Ign\u00e1c<\/a> polg\u00e1rmester, Gruber J\u00e1nos, Matolcsi J\u00f3zsef, Kapotsfy Jen\u0151 s dr.
