B\u00e1r\u00e1ny Guszt\u00e1vhoz hasonl\u00f3an N\u00e9meth is felhaszn\u00e1lta polg\u00e1rmesteri tiszts\u00e9g\u00e9nek id\u0151szak\u00e1t arra, hogy a kaposv\u00e1ri ker\u00fclet k\u00e9pvisel\u0151jek\u00e9nt bejusson a parlamentbe, de \u2013 ak\u00e1rcsak kor\u00e1bban B\u00e1r\u00e1ny \u2013 az 1881 j\u00fanius\u00e1ban rendezett v\u00e1laszt\u00e1sokon \u0151 is veres\u00e9get szenvedett szabadelv\u0171 ellenfel\u00e9t\u0151l. N\u00e9meth Ign\u00e1c m\u00e1sodszor is k\u00f6zfelki\u00e1lt\u00e1ssal nyerte el e posztot. 20. sz\u00e1zadi kutat\u00f3k ugyanakkor kiemelik, hogy a v\u00e1rosvezet\u0151k k\u00f6z\u00fcl \u00e9ppen ellene folyt a legt\u00f6bb hivatali fegyelmi. M\u00e1sodszor 1895-ig volt \u2013 lehetett \u2013 Kaposv\u00e1r els\u0151 embere, hogy azt\u00e1n n\u00e9vrokona, <a href=\"\/varostortenet\/b-074\">N\u00e9meth Istv\u00e1n<\/a>\u00a0folytassa a munk\u00e1j\u00e1t.<\/p>\n<p class=\"kv-page-content-paragraph\">A kort\u00e1rsak visszaeml\u00e9kez\u00e9sei vele kapcsolatban is azt jegyzik meg, amit el\u0151dj\u00e9r\u0151l \u00edrtak: n\u00e9pszer\u0171 ember, tehets\u00e9ges f\u00e9rfi\u00fa \u00e9s <a href=\"\/varostortenet\/b-060\">f\u00fcggetlens\u00e9gi<\/a>\u00a0politikus.
