Az \u00fcnneps\u00e9gen <a href=\"\/varostortenet\/b-052\">Somssich P\u00e1l<\/a>, a <a href=\"\/varostortenet\/b-174\">gimn\u00e1ziumi v\u00e1lasztm\u00e1ny<\/a>\u00a0eln\u00f6ke mondott a kort\u00e1rsak szerint \u201e\u00f3ri\u00e1si hat\u00e1st tev\u0151\u201d besz\u00e9det; ebben Kaposv\u00e1r v\u00e1ros\u00e1nak azon t\u00f6rekv\u00e9s\u00e9t is m\u00e9ltatta, <em>\u201emellyel a v\u00e1ros \u00e9rdekeit \u00e9s csinos\u00edt\u00e1s\u00e1t gymnasiumunk k\u00e9nyelm\u00e9vel \u00e9s d\u00edsz\u00e9vel egybekapcsolni iparkodott\u201d<\/em>. Somssich sz\u00f3noki teljes\u00edtm\u00e9nye val\u00f3ban nem volt h\u00e9tk\u00f6znapi. \u00cdgy fogalmazott: <em>\u201eA hely, melyen a mai \u00fcnnep\u00e9lyre egybesereglett\u00fcnk, a vall\u00e1sos nevel\u00e9s \u00e9s tudom\u00e1nyos m\u0171vel\u0151d\u00e9snek felszentelt helye! <a href=\"\/varostortenet\/b-036\">F\u00e9lsz\u00e1zaddal ezel\u0151tt<\/a>\u00a0ap\u00e1ink alap\u00edt\u00e1k ezt, egy v\u00e9res korszak puszt\u00edt\u00e1sai ut\u00e1n, \u00e1lland\u00f3 biztos tany\u00e1t nyitv\u00e1n Somogy vadreg\u00e9nyes berkein \u00e9s rengeteg erdein sok\u00e1ig v\u00e1ndorlott m\u00fazs\u00e1knak. Az iskola bej\u00e1ratai a F\u0151 \u00e9s a Teleki utca fel\u00e9 ny\u00edltak. A f\u00f6ldszinten rendezt\u00e9k be az igazgat\u00f3i irod\u00e1t, a fizikai k\u00eds\u00e9rleti termet, a term\u00e9szetrajzi szert\u00e1rat, de a f\u00f6ldszinti helyis\u00e9geket jobb\u00e1ra \u00fczleteknek adt\u00e1k b\u00e9rbe.
