A telep\u00fcl\u00e9s hat\u00e1ra kezdetben csak 252 hold volt. Mindennek ellen\u00e9re viszonylag gyorsan gyarapodott Kaposv\u00e1r lakoss\u00e1ga, ter\u00fclet\u00e9t 1717-ben \u2013 a terjeszked\u00e9s el\u0151seg\u00edt\u00e9s\u00e9re \u2013 h\u00e1romsz\u00e1z h\u00e1zhellyel meg is nagyobb\u00edtott\u00e1k. 1785-ben m\u00e1r 387 h\u00e1zat \u00e9s 478 csal\u00e1dot \u00edrtak \u00f6ssze a 2166 f\u0151s Kaposv\u00e1ron; a lakosok magyarok, n\u00e9metek, horv\u00e1tok \u00e9s szlav\u00f3nok voltak.
